BLORIN

Exalto is the lead partner of the BloRin research and development project (Blockchain for the decentralized management of Renewables), carried out in collaboration with the University of Palermo, Regalgrid, SEA Società Elettrica di Favignana, and S.EL.I.S. Lampedusa, co-funded under Action 1.1.5 of the PO FESR Sicily 2014–2020.

The project aims to develop a platform for managing solar Smart Communities, capable of fostering interactions among prosumers (producers/consumers) managing electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and coordinating exchanges also with electricity distribution operators.

To this end, a blockchain infrastructure will be used to manage energy exchanges among prosumers while taking into account grid balancing requirements. On the island of Lampedusa, a micro-grid will be tested involving a mix of photovoltaic systems and energy storage systems, with the possibility of managing the demand profiles of various users through Demand Response programs. On the island of Favignana, the model will be applied to the management of electric vehicle charging systems, in order to enhance their contribution as distributed storage for improving grid operation quality (V2G, vehicle-to-grid).

Exalto will also develop a mobile application for data visualization and blockchain-based verification.
