i-NEXT
The i-NEXT project focuses on energy efficiency in buildings and on sustainable mobility and logistics, utilizing energy from renewable sources. The main objective is to provide the Public Administration with integrated technological and management solutions to contain the economic, environmental, and social costs resulting from energy consumption and the movement of people and goods.
The project falls within the Smart cities domain. The beneficiaries include Medium-sized Enterprises, Large Enterprises, a University, and a Public Research Institution, with prevalent locations in Sicily and partly in Puglia.
i-NEXT is funded through the PON Research and Competitiveness 2007-2013, within Axis II dedicated to “Integrated actions for sustainable development and the dissemination of the information society.” The specific intervention line is Smart Cities, implemented through the “Smart Cities and Communities and Social Innovation” Notice. The overall objective of these initiatives is to promote local development through production chains linked to the increase in energy produced from renewable sources and energy saving.
